Tuesdays with Damallsvenskan 4

Tyresö FF v Umeå IK, Damallsvenskan Round 7
24 maj 2011, Tyresövallen, Tyresö

It's happened before, that an evening's Damallsvenskan match has been followed by another program whose title makes the TV advertisement look a little funny. Last time, the ad seemed to question the intelligence of people who watch these games. This time, we are promised "Totally outrageous behavior." Sooo... did we get some?

Just near the end, Ramona Bachmann falls heavily to the ground after a collision with her former teammate Elaine. As often happens she rolls around a bit. Is she really hurt? Let's rephrase the question to "Did whatever happen cause her some pain?" and the answer to that is almost certainly yes. (It could not have been too bad, though, as she started, played a full 90, and, oh yeah, scored a hattrick in the next game five days later against Kristianstad. But back to this game...) So Bachmann is lying on the ground. Elaine hangs around, and offers a hand up, but at some point it becomes clear that, for whatever reason, Bachmann isn't going to walk off by herself. Elaine helps a trainer get Bachmann upright, and starts to help carry her off, but then just puts her arm under Bachmann's knees and carries Bachmann off all by herself. Bachmann puts both arms around Elaine's neck at one point and at least a couple people in my Twitterverse can be heard saying Awwwww. I think Bachmann may have looked a little sheepish at some point during all this.

On the other hand, if you're a Tyresö fan, you may choose to think that the "outrageous behavior" is Tyresö's on-field performance, and their resulting recent record, which is that they have now lost three games in a row. Umeå is of course a very good team; still, Tyresö is in a slump. They were missing Josefin Öqvist and Kirsten van de Ven, who do provide some punch to the offense, but still...

Here's a link to highlights of the match, in moving pictures.
